First National Bank of Hoffman Estates
The First National Bank of Hoffman Estates opened its doors to the public on July 31, 1980, the day following the grant of charter by the Comptroller of the Currency. Construction of the building began on March 8, 1981 and the facility opened for operation on December 21, 1981.
First State Bank & Trust Company of Hanover Park
On October 23, 1969 the Illinois Commissioner of Banks & Trust Companies issued a permit to organize the First State Bank & Trust Company of Hanover Park. Temporary location of the bank was in the Trade Winds Shopping Center.
Groundbreaking ceremonies of its permanent location at Kingsbury Drive and Irving Park Road were held on July 14, 1970 and the new bank held its ribbon cutting ceremony on May 24, 1971.
First State Bank & Trust Co. of Hanover Park was acquired by First National Bank of Hoffman Estates on December 31, 1985. The two institutions shared common ownership but operated separately.
On October 1, 1987 First State Bank & Trust Co. of Hanover Park changed its name to Charter Bank & Trust of Illinois to reflect the Bank’s influence beyond the boundaries of the Village of Hanover Park.
Charter Bank & Trust, N.A.
Charter Bank & Trust of Illinois and the First National Bank of Hoffman Estates merged to become Charter Bank & Trust, N.A. on September 7, 1993.
Charter National Bank and Trust
On June 30, 1996 Charter Bank & Trust, N.A. changed its name to Charter National Bank and Trust.
